At the Work Choices rally at the MCG, Sam Pang observed that for all my vitriol, our ruler John Howard and I had quite a few things in common. Howard used to be a solicitor. I was once a solicitor. Howard says that his favourite band is Dire Straits. I love the song ‘Telegraph Road’ and have ‘Making Movies’ and ‘Love Over Gold’ in my collection. Howard says his favourite movie is ‘Four Weddings and Funeral’. It’s not my favourite, but I do own it on DVD. My best hope is that Howard likes it for Andie McDowell’s performance, and the line ‘Is it raining? I hadn’t noticed’.

Sam put it out the listeners, and they called in with other areas where the Prime Minister and I share some common ground. Lucy Pryor, a listener who clearly shares my love of set theory, was delaying writing school reports and so had time to prepare this.

PS If I ever start a rock band, (utilising my Grade 6 AMEB piano) it will be called The Null Set.

PPS In a recent poll, Andie McDowell was voted the number two least popular performer in Hollywood after Ja Ja Binks. This puts her number one amongst human beings.
