For six years, I’ve been a part of the Breakfasters on Triple R (102.7 FM). Triple R is a jewel in the Melbourne cultural landscape, supported by more than 10,000 subscribers who put up their hard-earned to ensure there’s at least one station on the air that’s not giving away mobile phones.

I’ve now announced that the outside broadcast at Blue Diamond will be my last show. It’s a decision I’ve made with heavy heart, because this is and has been a wonderful job. Here is an article from the Trip magazine in which I try and express my gratitude to Sam, Fee, Triple R and our wonderful listeners. I hope to see some of you at Blue Diamond on the 14th Given I cried in ‘Beaches’ (I swear, it’s because Mum was sick) I reckon there’s a fair chance I’ll lose it.

A special Burt Reynolds T-shirt will be available on the day, recognising the special part he has played in the life of the show. Don’t tell Burt. We don’t want to end up po’ folks.

Recent Guests

We recently had Wayne Arthurs on the Professionals segment to analyse such films as Match Point, and Wimbledon. Wayne-o was something of an expert on the Paul Bettany, Kirsten Dunst fiasco, having seen it three times on various plane trips. It was good to finally found out where our Wayne was at.

Michael C Hall, who was David in Six Feet Under and is the star of the upcoming Dexter on Fixtel also paid us a visit. In the show, he plays a blood spatter expert who is hiding his secret life as a vigilante sociopath, who evens up the scales of justice. Of course it’s just acting, but that doesn’t mean you don’t put special effort in to get his coffee just right.

For the period of the election campaign, Casey Bennetto, the writer and one time star of Keating! The Musical is contributing a political song a week, every Tuesday at 8.45. They have been terrific, and you can download them through the Breakfasters podcasts (Thanks Nikki) at www.rrr.org.au
