Tony Martin and myself will be guest presenting the ‘Max Headroom’ slot during Triple R’s Radiothon this year. The fundraising theme for 2009 is the disco-ish ‘I Will Subscribe’ and the topic for our one hour yak-fest ‘You Can’t Do That On Radio’. We plan to pretty much replicate the 1990s Canadian children’s program ‘You Can’t Do That On Television’ which its multitudinous slimings and percussive locker slams. It’s on Thursday 20th August, 7-8pm, 102.7 FM.

We’ve also done some fills in recent months. They’ve been ramshackle, fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants affairs, but tremendous fun and hopefully we’ve only defamed people who live overseas and don’t have access to the internet. My time as a 3RRR Breakfaster ended with a bang at the Blue Diamond Bar in Queens Street on 14th December 2007.

It was truly the job of my life, as I tried to articulate here. I also tried to articulate it on the day, and apparently I am still speaking.

In line with tradition, I did sing a song as part of the farewell. The tradition up until that morning had been for me to pay tribute to other people (John, Angus, Bec), but when forced, it’s amazing how happy I was to pay tribute to myself too.
