Having a Ball

I contributed an extended version of a football piece I wrote for The Age, Melbourne Magazine called ‘Having a Ball — How we Finally Fell in Love with the World Game’. It was anthologised in a book called ‘The Best Australian Humorous Writing’ edited by Andrew O’Keefe and Steve Vizard.

I didn’t know this was a Vizard project at the time of submitting, and if I had, wouldn’t have allowed him to hang the piece on his wall while claiming it as a tax deduction.

The book is actually worth reading, especially for Olga Olenich’s brilliant ‘Teacherwoman’ which was first published in Overland 189 (November 2007) and Mark Dapin’s hilarious piece on celebrity and reality television in LA.
